Comprehensive Medical Evaluation, Early Cancer Detection

The Role of Tumor Markers

Early detection of a life threatening disease offers the highest chances of a favorable response to treatment and it has been a continuous priority in our office.

Tumor markers are primarily used to monitor the response to therapy in previously diagnosed and treated malignancies. However, detecting a significant elevation in an individual without a cancer diagnosis raises concern and prompts further diagnostic testing.

At Integrative Medicine Associates in Oradell, NJ, we incorporate tumor marker testing into our comprehensive health assessments.

Common tumor markers include:

  • CA 15-3 and CA 27.29: Associated with breast cancer.

  • CA 19-9: Linked to pancreatic cancer.

  • PSA: Associated with prostate cancer.

  • Carcinoembryonic Antigen (CEA): Related to colorectal and other cancers.

Non-cancerous conditions can also cause elevated tumor markers, and not all cancers produce detectable tumor markers
