Inflammation is a normal response of the immune system to injuries and viral or bacterial infections, like strep throat or the flu. Antibodies and Inflammatory chemicals travel to the site of injury or infection and start the healing process.

Inflammatory conditions and autoimmune disorders are abnormal manifestations of the immune system, where antibodies meant to protect us, attack our own cells, like in rheumatoid arthritis, ulcerative colitis, multiple sclerosis, etc.

The immune system is influenced by multiple factors: the physical and mental health, the diet and the quality of the intestinal bacteria, the function of different glands, substance abuse, heavy metals, to name a few.
